Mikaela was helping in the garden when she got the fantastic idea to make mud pies. With all of the excitement of a child she began collecting her tools to make her pies. Exhausted from pulling weeds, edging my flower beds and the like I took a shower and had a short nap while her dad kept a close eye on things. When I woke much to my Surprise the mud pies the size of large pizzas were right at the front step. No way of walking around them. Even better was the mess in my half bath off of the kitchen. It seems according to Mikaela that "Dad said I could clean up my mess in here because he said I could wash my hands in here." Mud, sliding down the side of the vanity, in the sink, on the floor...get the picture. I decided not to scream just tell the child to go take a shower.
The next Surprise came when I asked where the last egg in the house was(I need to go shopping okay) since I had plans to use in for our salad. Here it comes the real Surprise, Mikaela informed me that she had to use it in her recipe for Mud Pies. It seems the new improved recipe calls for one egg, baking soda and organic milk. At this point I laughed to the point of tears. We all laughed even the dog laughed. Life is to complicated to make a big deal over the simple pleasures of childhood. Let's learn to chill a little and laugh a lot. By the way, Mikaela cleaned up her mess the next day. No my momma did not raise a fool.
